Shihad are taking a break from the studio to showcase new material from their forthcoming album.

Editorial Review

Shihad are currently tied with the legendary Split Endz for the most Top 40 charting singles in New Zealand. With another album currently in the works and due for release in 2010, that record should soon be surpassed. Until then, they've got seven albums and 20 years worth of history to work their way through.

Originally formed in Wellington in 1988, Shihad didn't release an album until 1993,Churn. It may have taken them five years to get an LP on shelves, but once the floodgates broke, the group quickly established themselves as New Zealand's favourite rock act, experiencing huge success with Killjoy (1995), Shihad (1996) and General Electric (1999). Record labels couldn't ignore their multi-platinum success and the guys started the new millennium signed to a major label.

Almost a decade later, Shihad are still at the forefront of the local rock scene. 2008's Beautiful Machine topped charts when it was released and the band is already working on a follow-up. The current tour gives them a chance to try out their new material and work through a 20-year back catalogue.
